Content Associate (Intern) — Malaysian cultural research
Remote internship researching Malaysian heritage for the Aevum app. Reading, interviews and careful writing. English required.
Full-time internship, remote, about 40 hours a week · Remote · Posted 15 Sept 2026
Aevum is building a cultural travel app. Stories that live inside the app are a separate product from the guides on this website. This role researches and writes for the app, with field trips in Malaysia when a piece needs them.
What you will do
- Research Malaysian history, culture, food, places and people from books, archives and conversations, not only from a search summary.
- Interview residents and collect accounts you can stand behind.
- Notice which details a culturally curious traveller actually needs.
- Shape themes and write clearly.
Who you are
Curious about culture and history. A strong reader and a careful writer. Comfortable working alone, approaching strangers, and listening. Fluent written and spoken English. A background in history, anthropology, arts, architecture, literature, journalism, heritage or tourism helps and is not required.
Local languages, a feel for pictures, or an interest in inviting other contributors are useful extras.
How the week works
About 40 hours, mostly remote, with approved field travel. Four hours overlap with the team. The rest you schedule. Weekly goals. Approved travel is supported. The length is flexible. We do not publish a figure.
How to apply
Email [email protected] with your name, where you live, your dates, languages, a short introduction, what you care about in culture, why you fit, one writing sample, one cultural story you find fascinating and why, and a CV. A short sample beats a thesis.
